Cross-Training Is Going Well

My back is doing well but now all of a sudden I have a banged up right knee. There’s always something slowing me down and it’s very frustrating. I was told that biking would help in the meantime. I need new brakes, a tune-up and a few other things and I’ll be good to go. Chondromalacia hurts like a bastard.

Cheat Confession

Have you ever been cheated on? I’ve been there and it’s not a good feeling. There is this website called CheatConfession.com and it’s basically a community of cheaters and the cheated. People get on there and write their stories about their experiences. I can’t stop reading it. Who knows if people tell the truth or not and I’m sure there are posts that just try to get laughs.

Here is an example:

About 2 years ago I was returning from the military on a dishonorable discharge for lewd and lavicsious conduct while stationed in Kuwait. When I came home I had found out my mom and dad had divorced while I was gone. I didn’t know where to live but eventually decided to go to my dad’s house since he lived in a big city with more access to job opportunities.

While there I met my dad’s new live-in girlfriend, Dianne. Long story short, fast forward 9 months and Dianne is having a baby. I am 99% sure it is mine because we boned like crazy when I first got back. My dad never knew. What’s even worse is that Dianne is over 50 and had an autistic child. Now she and my dad are stuck caring for it, but I can’t say a word. I try to give the little guy Nutter Butters and Oreos from time to time

It’s the beginning of Summer blockbuster season and I spend 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon watching a low budget doc. Shocker I went alone, but didn’t feel too bad because the theatre was just me and one other loser. By the way, Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema is one of my favorite spots on the map. Exit Through the Gift Shop is a film worth seeing. It’s a documentary about street artists. I’m terrible at explaining things so here’s the synopsis from RottenTomatoes:

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut.

Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post-hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film. Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner – with spectacular results.

The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview.

As Banksy describes it, “It’s basically the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”

The Gaslight Anthem, Worth Losing Sleep For

Don’t ask me how I just got my hands on the new Gaslight Anthem album almost 2 months before it’s official release date. Just know that I received a text at 12:57am from my connection that states, “Dude I have the new gaslight”. OK, I know what year it is and this happens all the time. The album leaked, big deal. It’s a huge deal for me. I don’t feel bad about “stealing” this album. I support live music and will most likely spend hundreds this year seeing the band play live multiple times. Supporting live music is where musicians really make their living so make sure to go to shows. Album sales mean nothing these days. American Slang is my most anticipated album of 2010. The Gaslight Anthem is my favorite band of the moment and of the last five years. I’ve never done a track by track review of an album before and maybe publishing one (8 weeks before release) on this blog might get me some traffic. I’ll think about it.
